His Girl Friday is one of the most famous films in the public domain—but with an interesting loophole. The play on which the film is based, 1928’s

The Front Page, was copyrighted and renewed, which means it’s still protected and therefore so is any work directly based on it. This movies is amazing
I love this movie. It's crazy funny and the actors are brilliant, carrying with them a lot of super fast dialogue weight. It's very witty, with Cary Grant

doing his very best and the genius of Rosalind Russell just working her magic. The remake with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon, although geniuses of their own didn't hold as well just because the chemistry between Grant and Russell is so awesome.

Not too shabby of a film
I found this movie not too shabby. The plot is ridiculous (intentionally in a screwball comedy type way) but the dialog is very witty, much more so than

today's films. If English isn't your first language this film might be hard to watch as all the dialog is extremely fast. I guess it might just have been the style back during that time. The picture quality is good for a black and white film and its immediately apparently how much sharper everyone is dressed compared to modern times. Overall this film still holds up with the times for what it is.
